What Types of Vehicles Will the Honda 0 Series EVs Include?
In 2017, Honda introduced the ‘Sports EV’ concept, a sleek and sporty cousin to the Urban EV concept that eventually became the Honda e. Many hoped that the new ‘0 Series’ of Honda EVs would include a sports coupe, but recent updates reveal a different direction.
According to a roadmap shared with TopGear.com, the Honda 0 Series will focus heavily on SUVs. The first model, set to debut in 2026, will be a production version of the Saloon concept, minus its distinctive gullwing doors. This will be followed by a mid-size SUV and an entry-level SUV.
In 2027, Honda plans to add a three-row large SUV to the lineup, with a compact SUV joining the family in 2028. By 2029, another SUV, described as a ‘small SUV,’ will be introduced, though it is neither entry-level nor compact.
The final model currently planned is a smaller compact saloon, set to launch in 2030, bringing the total number of models in the 0 Series to seven.
Notably absent from the lineup is a supermini successor to the Honda e, likely due to disappointing sales. There is also no electric ‘Civic’ or any hatchback models, as SUVs continue to dominate global markets. This means no hot hatchbacks or sporty coupes, as the 0 Series will primarily consist of various sizes of SUVs.
While this focus on SUVs is a practical business decision, it seems to lack the imaginative flair that Honda is known for.
